For those that may not be aware, there is an upcoming Cherry Blossom Festival here in Nashville on Saturday, April 18th @ 2 PM at the Nashville Public Square (in front of the Metro Courthouse). Of course it would be great if we could show up to show our support.

It sounds like Warner Brothers is planning two films based on three of the six volumes from Katsuhiro Otomo's graphic novel Akira that was first published in 1982. The films will be directed by Irish filmmaker Ruairi Robinson with the script provided by first-time screenwriter Gary Whitta.
The first film is to go into production right away, aiming for a release date in the summer of 2009.
